Back in April, you may recall, we had to postpone our Prairie Fizz Ed. Super sad! Well, as promised, we’ve rescheduled, and our pals from Prairie will be paying us a visit for our June Fizz Ed tastings!
Into their candy sours? Awesome - that’s the main theme of the tasting! Eager to explore beyond their delightful fruity beers? We got you! We’ll have something for the hopheads out there, and Prairie will even be bringing some super rare goodies from their own cellar! 👀👀
If you’re in the know, you may be familiar with Choc, an Oklahoma staple named for the Choctaw tribe that, so the story goes, taught Choc founder Pietro “Pete” Piegari the recipe for a fermented beer-like beverage over a century ago. Pete ended up making hooch and selling it out of the family residence...a building still standing (although greatly enlarged) today. Despite prohibition, a short jail sentence, and other inconveniences, Pete's family has more-or-less made beer in the tiny town of Krebs, Oklahoma, ever since.
Fast forward to 2012. Chase Healey was a small-town Oklahoma home-brewer with big ideas about funky brett-infused beers and monster stouts. He brought his big ideas to Krebs Brewing to cook up some pilot batches and Prairie was born. Chase eventually sold the brand outright to the Choc folks and the 100 year-old still-in-the-family business was reborn as Prairie Artisan Ales, now one of the most relevant breweries in the country.
