Meet Liz Miller, our new wine buyer at Hop City West End! Liz brings a wealth of knowledge, a diverse approach and a ton of style to the store. Hit her up for a recommendation next time you're there - you're sure to leave with a bottle that will be en pointe!

Scar of the Sea Zinfandel

Scar of the Sea is a husband and wife operation owned by Mikey and Gina Giugni. Their zinfandel has sparked somewhat of a cult following in recent months, including making The New York Times’ top ten Zinfandels to drink right now. It has a medium ruby color and smells of tart cherries, cranberries, fernet, menthol and potpourri.
$35.99 / 750 mL; available at Krog & West End

Lapierre Raisins Gaulois

Gaulois describes ideas, feelings, or actions that are very typical of France and French people. This is a no-fuss wine made to drink on
any occasion, with the idea that quality and flavor shouldn’t break the bank. Marcel Lapierre is a name that will live on as a legend in the region of Beaujolais. As a founding member of the revolutionary “gang of four”, Lapierre spearheaded the movement towards biodynamic farming and minimal intervention wine-making practices. This wine is light, playful, and juicy, and will pair beautifully with your Thanksgiving feast... But get it while you can, because Raisins Gaulois will be gone as soon as you can say “c’est la vie”!
$24.99 / 750mL; available at Krog & West End

Scythian Wine Co Cucamonga Revolution

Another project of famed Indian-American sommelier and winemaker Rajat Parr. This wine is a unique blend of old Zinfandel and Palomino (the grape responsible for making 90 % of all sherry) from one of California’s most historic vineyards. There are no sprays in the vineyard, the carbon footprint is negative, and the vineyards have such an amazing story and history. Cucamonga Revolution is a very juicy and fruitful blend with aromas of black licorice. On the palate, medium-bodied with cherry and cranberry juice flavors, floral notes, and hints of spice. A fresh and chillable red that’s perfect for Atlanta’s finicky transition into Autumn.
$37.99 / 750mL; available at West End

Gonc Canvas Rose Pet-Nat

Slovenian winemaker Peter Gönc is inspired by rock music, and often names his wines after individual songs, scratching them in chalk onto the barrel heads. This wine in particular is named “Canvas,” not after a song but instead in homage to his mother. The bottle reads, “This one is for my mom, painting my life in love and magic”. Rosé wines offer a visual feast that complement the vibrant colors of autumn. Their beautiful pink hues evoke the changing leaves, which this bottle of sparkling pinot noir features beautifully painted onto the label. This may just be your go-to early Fall rosé, but don’t forget to share it with mom, and give her thanks for her own effervescent love and magic.
$22.99 / 750mL; available at Krog & West End
