By now you’ve probably noticed that we offer a huge selection of THC beverages, and you may be trying to figure out what’s fact and what’s fiction when it comes to the legalities and logistics of hemp-based beverages. The landscape of cannabis regulation has shifted dramatically in the last few months, and there’s lots of confusing information out there. We’re here to help! Read on to learn all about legal THC and what new regulations are going into effect on October 1.
How is this legal?
Back in December 2018, Congress passed an updated Farm Bill that federally legalized hemp products with a concentration of less than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis. This introduced some legal gray areas, which Georgia addressed earlier this year by passing a new set of state hemp regulations. These regulations go into effect on October 1.
Will Cannabis Beverages Still Be a Thing After October 1?
YES! Basically, the new regulations currently address things like licensing and restricting sales to adults 21 and older. There was talk that there would also be a limit of 5mg THC set on cannabis beverages, among other restrictions, but those are tabled for now. TL;DR: there won’t be a THC milligram per serving size limit at the moment, but there could be in the future.
