Loie and Jim Maresh Sr. bought their land in 1959. They planted Pinot Noir in 1970, making them the fifth oldest vineyard in Oregon. In 1980 Jim and Loie’s daughter, Martha, married Fred Arterberry, Jr. who was one of the first winemakers in Oregon to have a degree in fermentation science from the University of California at Davis. In 1983 Martha and Fred had a son, Jim. Jim founded Arterberry Maresh in 2005.
The Dundee Hills Old Vines is sourced from vines that average 41 years old, sourced from 75% Maresh and 25% Weber Vineyard. The wine has a piney aroma, and it tastes like pomegranate molasses with a hint of orange zest. The body is fairly rich, but the bright acidity keeps it in balance. Oregon Pinot is always a treat, especially when made by one of its OG producers.
