Uproot is Making a Bid to Become the Lager King of Birmingham

Jan 25, 2024

If you love lager, you need to be paying attention to Uproot Brewing right now!

Uproot mastermind and brewer Nate Darnell is serious about bottom fermentation. Lager as a category has seen a huge resurgence in the craft scene over the last few years, and Uproot is positioning themselves as the premier spot for expertly crafted and executed beers that are supremely crushable and full of diverse flavor.

Over the past few weeks we've gotten a range of new lagers from the brewery, and we couldn't be more excited. Check out these three limited, specialty lagers from possibly the most exciting new brewery in town.

Harvest Lager
Dropping a Kellerbier this early in the game is a bold move, but this rustic pale lager more than speaks for itself. Light bready malt gives up some unsalted saltine and oyster cracker, and a pleasant hoppiness gives it a nice round feel.

Mums The Word
This amber lager takes the light yet rich balance that we all know and love, and streamlines it with an impressively dry and crisp finish. At once familiar and refreshingly new.

Reap
Dark lagers are a secret obsession of ours at Hop City, and this entry in the style is absolutely stellar. Milano Cookie and the lightest dry cocoa paint the front end, but the finish is so easy. A wildly crisp and refreshing dark beer.
